Pequot Lakes Community Theatre Seeks Directors
Pequot Lakes Community Theare, entering it's 26th year of operation, would like to hear from individutals interested in directing future productions. PLCT currently mounts three productions each season:a fall musical, a winter play and a summer play or musical; opportunities are available in all time periods starting summer of 2010. Productions are chosen from suggestions by the director to the PLCT Production Board, which provides support and advice and generally functions as the producer of the show. The board would like to hear from those who haven't directed for us previously, as well as those who have directed earlier productions and are interested in renewing their relationship. Interviews with the board will be arranged at the convenience of the applicant. Please send application letter, with a summary of background and experience, by June 15 to Pequot Lakes Community Education, ATTN: PLCT Board, 30805 Olson Street, Pequot Lakes, MN 56472, or send via e-mail to jdespot@pequotlakes.k12.mn.us or post on the GLAPA website, www.glapa.info. For more information, call (218) 568-9200.
We celebrated 25 years!
Pequot lakes Community Theatre (PLCT) was established in 1984. Judy Larsen, Sandy Johnson, and Joelle Burns were the three people responsible for starting PLCT. Judy directed, Sandy did the musical direction and Joelle did the choreography. It began with a variety type show called Bits Of Broadway which generated the seed money to produce subsequent shows. Tim Leagjeld and Renee Anderson were in the original productiona nad have been active in every musical since 1984. For the first seven years, a musical was presented annually. In 1991, Beth Selinger was interested in directing, so a winter production was added to the season. PLCT productionas are part of the GLAPA season. The fall show has traditionally been a musical and the spring show a nonmusical production. Recently, Nancy Waller has directed a summer show, so PLCT now produces three shows a year.
Some of our past productions ahve included: Cinderella, Mr. Roberts, Into The Woods, Seacret Garden, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Lucky Stiff, Honk, Once Upon a Mattress, The Best of How To Talk Minnesotan, The Musical, The Foreigner and Don't Hug Me, Oklahoma, How the Other Half Loves, and the summer show was Lumberjacks In Love. This summer we will be performing a sequel to Don't Hug Me, Don't Hug Me County Fair, another Phil Olson show.
