Bye Bye Birdie

Nov. 14-23, 2008

A P.L.C.T. Production

Years before there was Hairspray, there was Bye Bye Birdie, one of
the most captivating musical shows of our time. It tells the story of
rock and roll singer Conrad Birdie, who is about to be inducted into
the army. His managers concoct one final national publicity plan
before his induction.

Birdie will bid a typical American teen-age girl goodbye with an all-
American kiss. Kim MacAfee in Sweet Apple, Ohio, wins the honor. The
arrival of Birdie in Sweet Apple causes people of all ages to swoon.
The MacAfee household is completely upset by the visiting celebrity.
It is decided that Birdie will give his One Last Kiss on the Ed
Sullivan show, with disastrous results.

Birdie becomes disgusted with his life and goes out on the town with
the teenagers. After a night of upsets and misunderstandings, various
pairs of lovers are reunited and Birdie joins the military as a newly
wise and mature young man.

Bye Bye Birdie is a satire done with the fondest affection. Filled
with delightful songs like "Put on a Happy Face," "One Boy," "Kids,"
and "A Lotta Livin' To Do," it is the tops in imagination and
frivolity, a show that will be enjoyed by everyone.
